Crochet

Do you want to learn to crochet

Crochet, that’s such an old lady thing to do. Crochet is a French word meaning “to hook”. So that means, I’m a Hooker! 🙂

Back in 2008, I found a book called “Creepy Cute Crochet”. I took the the book to my husband and said “I need to make these”. He said “you don’t know how”. I said “Well, I’m going to learn” So, I went to the library, this is before the wonders of YouTube. I checked out books and DVDs. I taught myself how. I had no idea what I was doing when I started and was not able to do it right away. It took time, patience, and practice. There was so much trial and error. Let me help you on your journey by showing you what I’ve learned helped me on mine. I am still learning on a regular basis. (but now there’s YouTube! :))

Crochet is a passion of mine! I would love to teach you. I’m teaching crochet to anyone who wants to learn. I have patience and compassion for those who wish to pick up this wonderful skill. I believe anyone can do anything they set their mind to. Helping you create something you can be proud of, is very rewarding for me and will be for the you as well! I would like to be a part of that.

I will have everything you need for your first lesson. All you need is yarn and a hook, but I also have a few things to help you along the way. My fee $20 per hour for supplies and time. After that, each individual 1on1 lesson would be $20 per hour. We will learn the basics to as many advanced stitches you want to learn. Including Amigurumi (Stuffed Toys).

Sewing

Another passion of mine is sewing!

I starting sewing about 17 years ago with a simple machine my mother gave me. Beginning with normal hemming and fixing of holes, one day I decided to try my hand at the actual thing. I was going to make my first pair of PJ pants. I opened the pattern and… ??? what is this? So, I tried it anyway. They turned out… OK.

So, I decided I wanted to learn more. Before the You Tubes, there was real people. What!? I found one at our local craft store, you know the one. 🙂

She was amazing! I actually wanted to try to make a renaissance shirt, rather than the normal PJ pant tutorial. She helped me with great skill. I learned how to read a pattern and the simple steps to create a good looking shirt. I took off from there.

I’ve loved it ever since and have made many things to be proud of!

I didn’t have a mentor to help me along the way. I would have really liked to have had one and would like to be yours if you’ll have me. I would love to teach you the basics and send you on your way, or be there with you every step of the way.

Each individual 1on1 class will be $20 per hour. Sessions are 1 to 2 hours long. They will take place in my basement studio on my equipment. I will be there every step of the way for however long you want.
